SHARE THE MUSIC FOUNDATION’S MISSION

  • Share The Music Foundation is a registered 501(c)(3) dedicated to bringing musical artists to the Greater Lansing Area for the purpose of cultivating live musical experiences in the community and raising funds for Michigan charitable organizations.

  • During the pandemic, the entertainment industry was literally shut down. Many artists that were finally starting to achieve higher levels of success saw all of their opportunities cancelled for the better part of 18 months. Share The Music Foundation is committed to helping support these artists financially through concerts held in the Greater Lansing Area.

  • In addition to supporting artists, a main goal of the foundation is to cultivate intimate concert experiences for the Greater Lansing Community. The foundation also seeks to raise funds for Michigan-based charitable organizations. This year we have selected the MSU Community Music School to receive all profits generated from the concert series. Surprisingly, the MSU Community Music School does not receive any funding from Michigan State University.

The MSU Community Music School in East Lansing is an outreach unit of the MSU College of Music. CMS brings music education and music therapy to individuals of all ages and abilities.

Music has the ability to transform lives. Therapy clients have spoken their first words during music sessions. Young music students who were struggling academically, have found the confidence and resolve to succeed in school. Other students have found their professional calling and gone on to study music at the collegiate level. Adults who once felt isolated have found a community and a sense of belonging.

Since its founding in 1993, CMS in East Lansing has offered music and its inherent possibilities to everyone in the community regardless of age, ability, or income. CMS offers private lessons on over twenty different instruments, more than fifteen classes and ensembles, four different summer camps, and music therapy services. Students and clients range in age from infancy to 90+ years of age. Financial assistance is offered to students and families with need.

The MSU Community Music School is thrilled to be the beneficiary of this year’s concert series.
